# How to Use Glimpse

### 1. Create an Account

Create your Glimpse account and complete any required verification steps.

Once your account is active, you are ready to fund your wallet and begin trading.

### 2. [Deposit Bitcoin](/glimpse/wallet-and-funding/how-do-i-deposit-funds-into-glimpse.md)

Navigate to the **Wallet** tab and click **Deposit**.

Glimpse supports both:

* Bitcoin On-Chain (Layer 1)
* Bitcoin Lightning (Layer 2)

For the fastest experience, Lightning is recommended.

Once your deposit is confirmed, your wallet balance will be available for trading.

### 3. Open the [Forecast Heatmap](/glimpse/getting-started/understanding-the-forecast.md)

The Forecast Heatmap displays the market's current expectations for where Bitcoin may settle.

Each price range represents a potential outcome, and the market assigns a probability to each outcome based on trading activity.

As participants buy and sell contracts, the forecast updates continuously.

### 4. Review the Market's Forecast

Before placing a trade, review the forecast and identify the outcomes the market currently considers most likely.

You may agree with the market's assessment or believe that a different outcome is more likely.

Your goal is to identify opportunities where your expectations differ from the market's expectations.

### 5. Select a Price Range

Choose the Bitcoin price range you believe Bitcoin will settle within when the market resolves.

Each price range has its own contract price and payout structure.

Higher-probability outcomes generally cost more, while lower-probability outcomes generally cost less.

### 6. Choose the Number of [Event Contracts](/glimpse/trading/what-are-event-contracts.md)

Enter the number of contracts you would like to purchase.

The total cost of your trade will depend on:

* The current contract price
* The number of contracts purchased

### 7. Review the Cost and [Maximum Payout](/glimpse/trading/how-do-rewards-and-settlement-work.md)

Before confirming your trade, Glimpse displays:

* Total Cost
* Number of Contracts
* Maximum Payout
* Potential Profit

Review these values carefully before proceeding.

### 8. Confirm Your Trade

Once you are satisfied with the trade details, confirm your purchase.

Your position will appear in your portfolio and can be monitored as market expectations change.

### 9. Monitor or Close Your Position

You can hold your contracts until settlement or sell them before the market resolves.

If market expectations move in your favor, you may be able to sell your position for a profit before settlement.

### 10. Settlement

When the market reaches its settlement time, the final Bitcoin price is determined according to the market rules.

If Bitcoin settles within your selected price range, your contracts become winning contracts and pay out automatically.

If Bitcoin settles outside your selected range, the contracts expire worthless.

Any winnings are credited directly to your Glimpse wallet.
